So today, Monday, I met the teacher whose classes I’ll be taking over some of the days. She was a total Debbie Downer* about everything and seemed really frustrated that the students are so unmotivated. I’m teaching at the Lycée Professionnel, which means that most of these kids are actually older, aged 16-20 (!), and they’re training to enter technical fields straight out of high school instead of going to university afterwards. Since these students don’t ever really need to learn English for their professions, they are extremely unmotivated, their English is really bad, and therefore they suck in class. Multiple people told me today that I would be eaten alive in class since these classes are 99% male and I look like I’m 17. The teacher reiterated this and looked completely sorry for me when I met her today. Excellent.

oh my goodness... I keep forgetting to tell you, but I made my French 3s last year read this horrible book that takes place in Bretagne, and it totally talks all about the pink granite coast all the time and they're like "whaaat?" If I teach it again this year, you're gonna have to send me some pics so I can be like here, it really does exist!
